BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN YOUR BOOKKEEPER AND CPA

My Journey

Originally a dance teacher and office manager for a dance studio in Connecticut, I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1989 to be with my family.  My first 5 years were spent working at a small computer store where I managed their accounts receivable, served as the purchasing agent for the sales and service staff and handled customer returns.

Eager to complete my undergraduate degree and pursue new challenges, I enrolled at Queens University of Charlotte and took a position at the school providing administrative support to the Business Office and Human Resources office.  During that time I was actively involved in processing student payroll, student receivables and other general ledger activities.   After earning a BA in Computer Information Systems, I was promoted to the Director of Accounting, a role I held for 8 years.   I managed the areas of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Leger and the University Cashier.  I was also a key resource for the Registrar, Student Financial Services and Residence Life offices and served as the Chair of the Financial Policies Committee; setting and enforcing policies involving student tuition receivables as well as communicating university spending guidelines to all faculty and staff.

In 2006 I become acutely aware of the growing number of entrepreneurs in Charlotte and the incredible need for small business accounting assistance.  Still working with Queens on a contract basis to implement and maintain their online payment system, I started JPB Services and focused my free time on helping others pursue their dreams; assisting them with their finances while they focus on building their business.  Now completely focused on JPB Accounting Services, I work to bridge the gap between a business’s bookkeeper and their CPA by providing oversight, a segregation of duties, financial review and transparency and ultimately peace of mind that their financial reporting is accurate.
